Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

For the last two days in a row, health officials in the UK logged over 32,000 new infections, numbers not seen since January. Of the cumulative 5 million confirmed positive cases, 86.6% are considered recovered. Since yesterday, Covid-related deaths increased by 35, brining total fatalities to 128,336.
TORONTO – July 8, 2021: Canada stood today at 1,419,114 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 608 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – today reached 26,404 total deaths, 19 more than Wednesday. In Canada today the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,387,153. Ontario today reached 546,411 overall positives, an increase of 210 new cases compared to Wednesday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile remained to 9,228, with 4 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 535,577 or 231 more than the previous 24 hours. (more…)

TORONTO – Ontario’s mass immunization campaign against Covid-19 continues unabated. The provincial government today announced an important milestone reached in the last few hours: one in two adults in the province has already received the first and second dose of vaccine. During a press conference Christine Elliott, together with Sollicitor Genral Sylvia Jones, reiterated that the vaccination campaign is not only meeting the timetable foreseen by the executive, but that even the numbers are higher than those budgeted.
