Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of February 3, 2022, at 4:00 pm EST.

On Thursday, health officials in Poland logged 54,475 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 5.0 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 81.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 307 Covid-related deaths for a total of 106,060 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

HCDSB deviates from privacy protocols

TORONTO – The Halton Catholic District School Board may be breaching provincial privacy protocols when it comes to collecting students’ personal information. During Tuesday’s Board meeting (February 1), trustees decided to proceed with the student census without acquiring prior explicit parental consent for students in grades 9 – 12 to participate. They are minors.

Federal Parties cry at O’Toole’s departure: Goodbye Mr. Safety net

TORONTO – I think that any man or woman who presents himself/herself for the highest levels of public office (Party leadership) deserves a nod of respect for trying to define a vision and for subsequently attempting to co-ordinate the rest of us towards its realization. On that score, Erin O’Toole is no less deserving than the next aspirant to the top job. It’s a role unsuited for the feint of heart or for the whiny types at school boards who are unaccustomed to scrutiny. And there is plenty of that.
