Cartoonist Andrea Paggiaro, better known as ‘Tuono Pettinato’ (the bizarre name of art is taken from a story by Borges), born in Pisa in 1976, died on Monday; next July he would have turned only 45 years old.

This was announced in the morning by the Fumettologica website, with whom Tuono Pettinato had collaborated several times, specifying that the death occurred “after a long illness”, on which, however, the artist had maintained a dignified reserve. Therefore, the news was a real shock for the Italian comics community; immediate reactions and gifts from colleagues followed.

Particularly significant is that of Michael Rocchetti (Maicol & Mirco), who with delicate irony makes his characters comment:“Did he really have to die? A person who loved life so much? … Nature will have taken it for inverse psychology “. With Maicol and other young cartoonists, Tuono Pettinato founded the SuperAmici collective in 2008.
