In Ontario 2,380 new infected and 17 more deaths

The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,780 total deaths, 27 more than on Wednesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 888,791. Ontario yesterday reached 336,070 overall positives, an increase of 2,380 new cases compared to Wednesday, the highest case count the province has reported since January 24, including 280 new cases added due to a data catch-up process. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,280, with 17 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 312,709 or 1.329 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 1.458 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 51 of the South African variant and 54 of the Brazilian variant.
Yesterday there were 894 people still in hospital, 332 of them in intensive care and 212 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are 46 retirement and long-term homes that continue to record cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there were 15,017 elderly patients infected in total since the beginning of the emergency and 3,753 total deaths so far recorded among guests of the same facilities. Until yesterday, 6,795 health workers were infected in the same nursing homes and 11 died.
The city of Toronto has recorded, since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 108,288 positives yesterday, with an increase of 1,036 cases compared to Wednesday. Meanwhile, there were 2,771 total deaths in the city, with 5 new victims recorded compared to the previous 24 hours. 99,709 were found to be healed yesterday.
The York Region reached 32,030 total infections yesterday, with 232 more positives than on Wednesday and 551 victims since the start of the pandemic, with one more death in the last 24 hours. Yesterday, 30,246 people were recovered, while 28 people were still in hospital, 6 of them in intensive care.
In the city of Vaughan, the total number of people who tested positive for Covid-19 was 13,489 yesterday, or 42% of the entire York Region, with 108 more new infections than in the previous 24 hours. 223 deaths, with no more new casualties, recorded yesterday, while 12,762 people were cured. 12 were hospitalized, 2 of them in intensive care.
At Woodbridge yesterday there were 5,759 cases of positivity, 3,592 in Maple, 4.344 in Richmond Hill and 8.177 in Markham.
In the Peel Region yesterday there were 68,894 coronavirus positives, 366 more than the last survey and 636 total victims, with 2 more deaths than on Wednesday. There were 65,816 healings recorded in total, while 1,890 people were hospitalized.
In Mississauga, the total number of people who tested positive for the coronavirus was 24,193 yesterday, 132 more than last Wednesday. Also in Mississauga were yesterday 382 victims so far, with 3 more deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, while there were 22,981 people recovered from Covid-19 and 928 people so far hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
In Brampton, the total number of people positive for Covid-19 was yesterday 41,654, with 226 new cases of contagion more than on Wednesday. 240 confirmed deaths, with no more victims in the previous 24 hours, while 39,999 were found to be healed yesterday.
In Caledon, there were 2,641 registered infections yesterday, 30 more than on Wednesday, while 2,502 had recovered and 13 victims overall, with no more deaths.
In Hamilton the total number of positives yesterday was 12,164, with 65 new cases of contagion more than in the last testing cycle, while the number of victims so far ascertained was 304, with 2 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. Finally, there were 10,960 total recoveries.
In Ottawa, 16,483 people were infected yesterday, an increase of 151 positives compared to the last survey, while 459 people died, with 2 more new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours. The healed in the capital yesterday were a total of 15,207.
In Quebec yesterday there were 945 new registered cases, for a total of 305,435 infected, along with 4 additional deaths per 10,630 total victims.
