Italian Theatre at Laurentian University

[GTranslate]“Le Maschere Laurenziane” – the student theatre group-housed in Laurentian University’s Italian Studies Program in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures – will present their twenty-ninth annual Italian theatre production on March 26-28, 2021.

Zoomiamoci (“Let’s Zoom”) is a collection of 5 vignettes that portray how the Italian community of Sudbury has dealt with the year-long Covid-19 pandemic.  Scene I deals with the comical situations surrounding Ivano and Chiara trying to teach their grandparents how to use Zoom.  Scene II is dedicated to Grandma’s overflowing freezers and the lengths she goes to in order to stay safe in her home when her granddaughters make weekly grocery deliveries.  Scene III deals with a virtual birthday party that three granddaughters throw for their grandmother and what needs to be done in order to have their grandmother participate.  Scene IV revisits hoarding “Italian style” while the last scene is dedicated to a virtual medical appointment with the doctor.

Zoomiamoci will be performed on Zoom on Friday, March 26, 2021, at 1:00 pm and again at 8:00 pm, Saturday, March 27, 2021 (8:00 pm), and Sunday, March 28, 2021 (2:00 pm). For more information please call 705.523.0988.
