Sanremo Music Festival, Mahmood & Blanco winners. On the podium Elisa and Gianni Morandi

SANREMO – Mahmood & Blanco are the winners of the 72nd edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, ended this evening in Italy after five days of live performances broadcast worldwide by Rai Tv from the Ariston theater in Sanremo.

On the podium, at the end of the voting, Gianni Morandi (“Apri tutte le porte”), Elisa (“O forse sei tu”) and Mahmood-Blanco (“Brividi”): three generations compared, with Morandi to represent the “old guard” of the tricolor song, Elisa ‘queen’ of the 2000s and Mahmood among the most loved new generation of Italian music. But also three champions, all already winners of the Festival: Morandi in 1987 together with Umberto Tozzi and Enrico Ruggeri with “Si può dare di più”, Elisa winner in 2001 with “Luce (tramojnti a nord est)”, Mahmood in 2019 with “Soldi “.

In the end the young duo prevailed with their “Chills” (English translation of the song’s title “Brividi”), followed by Elisa in second place and Gianni Morandi in third place.

Here are the special prizes: Critics’ Award “Mia Martini” to Massimo Ranieri with “Lettera al di là del mare”; Radio Tv Web Press Room Award “Lucio Dalla” to Gianni Morandi with “Apri tutte le porte”; Best Lyrics Award “Sergio Bardotti” to Fabrizio Moro with “Sei tu”; Best Musical Composition Award “Giancarlo Bigazzi” (awarded by the Sanremo Orchestra) to Elisa with “O forse sei tu “.
