Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
Julia Prajza’s design proposal was the final choice for the “Rooster of Barcelos Project” (in the pic, courtesy of Little Portugal on Dundas BIA), a public art project presented by the City of Toronto, in conjunction with Little Portugal on Dundas BIA, StreetARToronto, the Office of Deputy Mayor Ana Bailão, the Consulate General of Portugal in Toronto and the Barcelos Migrant Association. The City Council of Barcelos offered the city of Toronto a large statue representing the legendary Rooster, which is the symbol of this Portuguese city. This statue will receive the intervention of an artist and will then be exhibited in the Little Portugal neighbourhood as a piece of urban art. (more…)
