Vaccines, another case of overdose in Italy: 4 doses instead of 1 to a woman, “but she’s fine”

LIVORNO – Four doses instead of one were administered to a woman in a vaccination center in Livorno, Tuscany (Italy).

To receive the overdose, as explained by the local Asl, a sixty-year-old woman who would now be in good health.

Just a few days ago, on May 9, a similar case occurred in Massa: a 23-year-old receives 4 doses of Pfizer. In that case, the management of the ASL (the local public agency of health), which launched an internal investigation, spoke of a distraction by the nurse, due to excessive pressure in hectic days for the mass vaccination campaign.

Also for the case that took place yesterday, the ASL Toscana Nord Ovest immediately opened an internal investigation. According to an initial reconstruction, the woman received 0.3 ml of Pfizer vaccine undiluted and therefore a dosage four times higher than normal.

The patient was taken care of by the medical and nursing staff present in the vaccination center and kept under observation for about an hour in order to verify that there were no immediate reactions that could endanger her health.

Then she was hospitalized as a precaution in the emergency room of the Livorno hospital where, however, the woman would not have shown particular symptoms.

The girl from Massa, on the other hand, would suffer from constant dehydration, to the point of being forced to drink almost seven liters of water a day.
