In Ontario 1,316 new infected and 16 deaths

[GTranslate]TORONTO – March 9, 2021: Canada yesterday stood at 895,809 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 3,208 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 22,332 total deaths, 37 more than on Tuesday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 843,019. Ontario yesterday reached 312,428 overall positives, an increase of 1,316 new cases compared to Tuesday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile risen to 7,099, with 16 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 294,018, or 1.212 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 908 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 39 of the South African variant and 17 of the Brazilian variant. (more…)

Long Term Care, McGeer: “Proposals ignored because they are expensive”

[GTranslate]TORONTO – Hire thousands of personal support workers (PSW) and place infection control specialists in long-term care homes, – as has been done in Quebec – a system to allow hospitals to support the long-term care industry and to ensure seniors don’t have to share a room in three or four. These are some of the various proposals Ontario doctors have made to protect LTC residents but which the government has rejected “as too expensive.” (more…)

La ricetta del giorno: Sedanini con bietoline e pancetta

Ingredienti per 4 persone:
– 320 g di sedanini
– 650 g di bietoline
– 150 g di pancetta affumicata
– 1 limone
– 0,5 dl di brandy
– 2 spicchi d’aglio
– 3 cucchiai di olio EV
– 1 cucchiaino di paprica dolce
– 1 cucchiaino di paprica piccante
– 60 g di noci tritate
– 40 g di grana a scaglie
– sale e pepe
