Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of June 7, 2021 at 6:15pm EST.

Health officials in India logged 87,345 new infections in the last 24-hours. This marks the lowest single-day increase since early April. The additional cases pushed official national tally of positive cases close to 29 million. Of the cumulative total, 94.3% are considered recovered. In the last day, Covid-related deaths increased by 2,115 for a total of 351,344 fatalities.

Canada and Ontario Invest $15 million in Municipal Infrastructure to Respond to the Impacts of COVID-19 in Northern Ontario

THUNDER BAY —Communities across Canada are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and need immediate assistance to ensure their public infrastructure is safe and reliable. Details were provided by the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; Stephen Crawford, Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure and Member of Provincial Parliament for Oakville, on behalf of the Honourable Laurie Scott, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure; and His Worship Bill Mauro, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay. The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing more than $15 million to protect the health, and well-being of residents in 99 municipalities across Northern Ontario. (more…)

Ontario to enter Step 1 of reopening Friday

TORONTO – Turning point on the reopening front. The Ontario government announced today that starting Friday the province will enter Step 1 of the roadmap for the reopening of the economy. Doug Ford and Christine Elliott had previously planned to loosen the restrictions from Monday, June 14, but in recent days the premier and health minister had hinted that flattening the epidemiological curve could accelerate the start of Step 1. Daily update of Ontario’s Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign


With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 10.0 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. Just over 1 million people have been fully vaccinated. On June 7, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 116,829 vaccine doses on Sunday, down from 158,393 doses the day prior.

Le vittime – su scala nazionale – hanno raggiunto ieri quota 25.725 decessi complessivi, 13 in più rispetto alla giornata di sabato. TORONTO – Guvernul Ontario apasa pe accelerator. De astăzi oferă programări pentru administrarea celei de-a doua doze persoanelor în vârstă de 70 de ani și peste. Conform planului inițial, grupul de vârstă peste 70 de ani urma să aibă acces la re-programare doar pe 14 iunie, iar cei care au primit prima doză înainte de 18 aprilie puteau face o nouă programare doar pe 28 iunie.
