Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

On Tuesday, health officials in Greece logged 3,428 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed half a million. Of the cumulative total, 91.0% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 14, brining the total number of fatalities to 12,972.
TOKYO – Italian sailors Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti crossed the line at Enoshima Yacht Harbour in sixth position behind the medal race winners Santiago Raul Lange and Cecilia Carranza Sarol as well as Denmark and the USA, who finished second and third respectively. (more…)
TORONTO – There are trips, school assemblies, music education and extracurricular activities in the return-to-school plan released yesterday by the Ministry of Education. Twenty-nine pages that contain the plan for the full-time return of both elementary and high school students even if the option of distance learning always remains valid. From September, students “will attend face-to-face classes every day for the entire school day (five hours of instruction) in elementary and secondary schools throughout the province. For secondary schools, “some school councils may implement an alternate week or ‘modified semester’ pattern.” (more…)
BEIJING – A nightmare that seemed over and that instead returns. China, where it all began, is trembling with the coronavirus and Wuhan, the symbolic city of Covid-19, is reviewing the lockdown, albeit partial and limited to an area, after the dramatic total blockade experienced between the end of January and 8 April 2020, which so impressed the rest of the world still free (at the time, and for a while …) from the virus. With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 19.5 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. On August 3, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 31,015 vaccine doses on Monday, down from 41,121 doses the day prior. (more…)
