Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

On Monday, health officials in the Philippines logged 10,748 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 2.6 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 94.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 61, bringing the total number of fatalities to 38,828.
TORONTO – The increase in the maximum number of students per class starting from October 12 to parents just does not go down. It was precisely to express their disappointment, in the hope of blocking this decision, that for tomorrow they organized protests in front of numerous schools of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). TORONTO – The countdown to next June’s vote has already begun. To kick off the unofficial election campaign was today the Speech from the Throne held in Queen’s Park by Deputy Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell, with which the executive led by Doug Ford has drawn up an overall assessment of the fight against Covid-19 in the last 18 months and, at the same time, has illustrated the priorities for the province in these last eight months of legislature before the appointment at the polls. The health and safety of students and staff is top of mind when it comes to individuals learning in Ontario education system, or at least it should be. That is why parents are concerned over the province’s plan to increase class sizes.

EDMONTON – The month of September 2021 was, so far, the worst month in Alberta during the entire Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, more inhabitants of the province have tested positive than in any previous month and records have also been set for hospitalizations and intensive care. September was also the deadliest month since the second wave of the pandemic. (more…)
