Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of December 10, 2021, at 6:30 pm EST.

On Friday, health officials in the UK logged 58,194 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 10.7 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 87.8% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 120 Covid-related deaths for a total of 146,255 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

L’addio a Corrado, veterinario italiano in Australia dal 1969

MELBOURNE – E’ scomparso il 23 novembre scorso a Melbourne, dove dal 1969 viveva ed esercitava la professione di medico veterinario, il dr. Corrado Cimati (nella foto, con la moglie Gina). Era nato a Paganica (L’Aquila) nel 1935, il prossimo gennaio avrebbe compiuto 87 anni. Dai sessantenni in su tutti a Paganica lo ricordano per la sua corporatura atletica, l’altezza superiore alla media di allora, la giovialità, il sorriso pronto e quel suo fascino da attore cinematografico, invero mai tentato sul set ma che tanto piaceva alle donne della sua età e anche alle altre.  (more…)

কেন পাকিস্তান প্রেসিডেন্ট বাইডেনের ‘গণতন্ত্র সম্মেলনে’ যোগ দেয়নি?

চীন ও বাংলাদেশ আমন্ত্রণের বাইরে থাকলেও পাকিস্তান আমন্ত্রিত হওয়া সত্ত্বেও যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেনের গণতন্ত্র সম্মেলনে যোগ দেয়নি। আপাতদৃষ্টিতে দায়িত্বভার গ্রহণের পর প্রেসিডেন্ট বাইডেন পাকিস্তানের প্রধানমন্ত্রী ইমরান খানকে কোনো ফোন কল দেননি। গত বুধবার পাকিস্তান সরকারের পক্ষে ইসলামাবাদ জানিয়েছে, তারা যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সরকারের আমন্ত্রনে ‘কৃতজ্ঞ’।  (more…)

Why Pakistan opted out of Prez Biden’s Summit for Democracy?

As China and Bangladesh were not invited to the US President Joe Biden’s Summit for Democracy, Pakistan did not join being invited. Apparently Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan did not receive any phone call since President Biden has taken office. The Pakistan government has chosen not participate, but Wednesday Islamabad said that it was “thankful” to the US government for the invite. This summit is being held for the first time on 8-10 December, with countries participating virtually.  (more…)
