Ucraina, gli Italiani di Toronto si mobilitano: raccolta-fondi per Zaporizhzhia a “Venga Cucina”

TORONTO – Nuova iniziativa di solidarietà del ristorante italiano “Venga Cucina”, unica “pinseria” di Toronto e già protagonista di campagne benefiche in passato. Il locale di Dundas Street West 3076 ha deciso di donare l’intero ricavato di 100 pinse alle Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great del Monastero di San Pietro e Paolo, nella città di Zaporizhzhia in Ucraina, duramente colpita nei giorni scorsi nel corso del conflitto con la Russia. L’iniziativa si terrà lunedì 14 marzo.

Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of March 6, 2022, at 5:00 pm EST.

On Sunday, health officials in Italy logged 35,057 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 13.0 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 91.0% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 105 Covid-related deaths for a total of 155,887 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Toronto’s Italians for Ukraine: fundraising for Zaporizhzhia at “Venga Cucina”

TORONTO – A new solidarity initiative of the Italian restaurant “Venga Cucina”, the only one “pinseria” in Toronto, already protagonist of charity campaigns in the past. The restaurant in 3076 Dundas Street West has decided to donate the entire proceeds from 100 “pinse” (a special kind of pizza), that will be cooked on Monday 14 March, to the Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great of the Monastery of St. Peter and Paul (in the pic above), in the city of Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine, severely hit in recent days in the course of the conflict with Russia. Leger Poll: Tory first party, NDP and Liberals are tied

TORONTO – As the provincial election approaches by leaps and bounds, according to a new poll conducted by Leger on behalf of Postmedia News between February 25 and 27, Ontario’s Conservatives are ahead in preferences while the NDP and Liberals are head to head in the race for second place. In voting intentions, Doug Ford’s Tories are at 39%. Andrea Horwath’s NDP and Steven Del Duca’s Liberals are tied, with 27% respectively. “We are practically two months from the kick-off – said Andrew Enns, vice president in charge of Leger at the Winnipeg office – starting from now on you can already see where the parties are in terms of preferences”.

Trudeau in Europe, NATO at a crossroads in Ukraine

TORONTO – Find new tools to try to stop the conflict and restart the diplomacy machine. This is one of the objectives of Justin Trudeau’s trip to Europe in the midst of the Ukrainian crisis, with the escalation of fighting and the inexorable advance of the Russian army. The Canadian prime minister left Ottawa for London, where he will meet with his British counterpart Boris Johnson and Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte.
