Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of March 8, 2022, at 4:30 pm EST.

On Tuesday, health officials in the UK logged 61,900 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 19.3 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 93.7% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 212 Covid-related deaths for a total of 162,359 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

‘Bet your dog’s missing you’: Toronto office removes return-to-work posters after protests

TORONTO – Maybe they just wanted to be nice and affectionately greet the employees’ return to the office after months and months of smart working. But the workers didn’t like those signs that appeared in a building in downtown Toronto and the company was forced to remove them. “Oxford Properties” had placed signs in the lobby of the building, located at 20 Bay Street, with the words “Seriously, we missed you”, “Miss your sweatpants yet?”, “Bet your dog’s missing you” (in the pic above). The virus does not give up: 20 deaths and more hospitalizations in Ontario, many deaths also in Alberta and Quebec

TORONTO – The virus does not give up in Ontario: despite the comforting data of the last few weeks, today’s numbers show a growing with another 20 deaths and 779 patients with Covid-19 in the hospitals of the province, down from 914 last week but in sharp increase compared to 693 on Monday and 684 on Sunday. Of the 779 patients currently in hospital, 246 are in intensive care, a number down from the 278 on last Tuesday and also on Monday’s 249. (more…)

Daily update of Ontario’s Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign

With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 31.8 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on March 8, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 9,737 vaccine doses on Monday, up from 6,281 doses the day prior.
