Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

You will have company: the Catholic Church will have been “booted” to the same sideline when it comes to institutions entrusted with the education of your children.
TORONTO – “Toronto is at a turning point that must not be a breaking point. People tell me they are worried that the city they love is on the brink of serious decline. “I want to lead Toronto’s revival. I have a plan to do exactly that”: candidate Mitzie Hunter (in the pic above, from a video on her Instagram page), running for Mayor, introduced today her 71-page plan titled “Fix the Six” and based on a general six-per-cent property tax increase – $216 per year for an average home – that will be reduced to three per cent – a $108-per-year increase – for households with income under $80,000. Hunter’s plan also provides additional protections for moderate and lower income seniors, which will allow more than half of all seniors to pay no property tax at all. (more…)
Hoje, publicamos outra entrevista sobre os candidatos que disputam a eleição para Presidente da Câmara de Toronto. 102 candidatos estão inscritos no Registo Eleitoral da Câmara. Não seremos capazes de dar a todos eles a cobertura que eles gostariam. Propomos, mas não nos limitaremos a entrevistar candidatos interessados desde que “as sondagens” indiquem que podem obter pelo menos 4% dos votos.

Ele é presidente da Comissão de Planeamento e Habitação desde o ano passado. O Sr. Bradford está a concorrer para o lugar de Presidente acreditando que simplificar a burocracia e fazer com que as promessas sejam cumpridas rapidamente é a direção a seguir para uma Toronto que funcione. No seu programa, há um plano para aumentar a segurança pública no Toronto Transit Commission (TTC); um novo Departamento para responder a crises de saúde mental; um comissário para a redução do congestionamento do tráfego na cidade; um plano para combater o crime e construir moradias sociais. Bradford, entrevistado pela equipe editorial do Corriere Canadese, apresentou as prioridades de seu programa.
