Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

TORONTO – Signs of a return to some semblance of normalcy are popping up around the city. For the first time the Metro Toronto Convention Centre held a three-day Art Show at full capacity. These days, exhibits like this are done differently, by lines. First line checks your electronic tickets. Second line, your proof of vaccination and identifications. Last line, security check. Then, you’re on your own but with self-discipline, maintaining physical distance while strolling in a fashionable manner, looking at one art work after another, perhaps lingering at some, trying to decipher what the artist was trying to convey. →

TORONTO – All roads led to Italy for the 2-day G20 summit meeting this year. US President Joe Biden had to put on hold domestic issues just to be in Rome for this summit. Top of the agenda was climate change. Prince Charles addressed the leaders of attending countries. From Rome, participants proceeded to Glasgow, Scotland, for the UN COP26 meeting. In both meetings, activists ensured that their voices are heard by world leaders. These meetings are unique because Covid safety protocols are in place. I remember when G8-G20 was held in Toronto having experienced challenges covering the event. →
