Pope Francis to Star in a Documentary about Art

TORONTO – From St. Peter to Pope Francis, 266 pontiffs have mostly nurtured the heavenly connection between religion and art, and despite the odd disagreement between Pope and Poet, artistic masterpieces were often Church sponsored or inspired. Pope Julius II who successfully forced French Troops out of Italy in 1512 (his own work of art), commissioned Michelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel. And Dante’s exile from Florence, ordered by Pope Boniface, effectively inspired his Divine Comedy. Today however, Pope Francis is talking to Artists in a new documentary titled, “Preacher of Beauty: A Spiritual Journey Through Art and Faith.”
