As flames rage across several areas of the province, the official NDP opposition is indeed calling on the government led by Doug Ford “to reverse cuts to forest firefighting efforts and acknowledge the crisis in the province’s wildfire program…”.

Wildfires in Ontario, military support to help evacuate and concern about air quality

TORONTO – Wildfires in Canada: extreme emergency in several provinces, so that Prime Minister Mark Carney has decided to call in the Canadian Armed Forces. In particular, the military will help evacuate a First Nations community in northwestern Ontario, as forest fires spread rapidly in the region as well as in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Texas and Italy are closer with the first direct American Airlines flight Dallas-Venice

DALLAS – More connections between Texas and Italy: the first direct American Airlines flight 130 departing from Dallas/Ft Worth (DFW) airport has arrived in Venice. At the inauguration, Jim Moses (Senior VP American Airlines DFW Airport Operation) highlighted that the airline has strengthened connections with new routes, especially to Europe, and that the partnership with the management of DFW airport is fundamental: 88 million passengers passed through there in 2024.

Italy’s Tennis Fever hits Theatres

TORONTO – Pierfrancesco Favino’s upcoming film My Tennis Maestro will be handled internationally by Playtime Group, an announcement coming out of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The news came after the first images from the film were shown in Cannes – and the interest was instant. Although headquartered in Paris, Playtime Group has offices and partnerships in key film markets: Berlin, Brussels, London, and Munich.

TORONTO – Half of Canada is gripped by fire and almost all of it by smoke: with 204 active fires, many of them out of control, and air quality alerts that follow one another day after day (here the updates in real time), the situation is a full emergency even though summer has yet to begin. And the most affected populations are the First Nations.
