পশ্চিমা সমাজে সন্মুখসারির কর্মজীবি হিসেবে ‘পিএসডব্লিউ’ বা পার্সোনাল সাপোর্ট ওয়ার্কারদের ভূমিকা যথেষ্ট গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। তারা একদিকে যেমন পরিচর্যা কেন্দ্র ও হাসপাতালে সঙ্কটপূর্ণ রোগীর সেবায় নিয়োজিত, তেমনি সমাজের অপরাপর পরিচর্যা নিবাস, ব্যক্তিমালিকানাধীন বাড়ী ও সরকারি অর্থপুষ্ট দীর্ঘমেয়াদি বৃদ্ধাশ্রম বা সেবাশ্রমে নিজেদের নিয়োজিত রাখেন। পাশাপাশি তারা শুধু সেবার অনন্য দৃষ্টান্তই স্থাপন করেন না, বরং রোগীদের প্রাত্যহিক সুস্থতার ক্ষেত্রেও তারা আত্মনিবেদিত ও অবিচল। কেননা পার্সোনাল সাপোর্ট ওয়ার্কার এইচকিউ ওয়েবসাইটের তথ্যানুসারে কানাডায় দীর্ঘমেয়াদি পরিচর্যা কেন্দ্রের বাসিন্দাদের গড় আয়ুস্কাল ৮৭.২ বছর এবং এদের অনেকেই আবার মানসিক প্রতিবন্ধি, যেমন আলজাইমার বা ডিমেনসিয়ায় আক্রান্ত। ফলে তাদের এই মহান আত্মত্যাগ অবিস্মরণীয়। সেটা এই করোনা মহামারীকালীন কানাডার সর্বত্র, এমনকী অপরাপর দেশেও দৃশ্যমান। (more…)

On Monday, 266 out of Canada’s 338 members of parliament voted against this motion. Although most cabinet members were absent from voting. The House of Commons also explicitly blames for the country’s indiscriminate killings of Uighurs and other Turkish-speaking Muslims in China.The said proposal was made in Parliament by the opposition Conservative Party. It said China’s state action in the Xinjiang region was tantamount to genocide in accordance with UN policy adopted in 1948. In addition to the Conservative members, a significant number of ruling Liberal party MPs voted in favour of the proposal. The final vote count showed that 266 MPs present voted without any opposition, only two MPs have remained officially absent. (more…)

ROMA – Dopo il Senato, anche la Camera dei Deputati accorda la fiducia al governo Draghi, con 535 voti a favore, 56 contrari e 5 astenuti: fra i “no”, quelli di Fratelli d’Italia (nella cui compagine è entrato un deputato uscito dalla Lega, Gianluca Vinci) e dei “dissidenti” del M5S ai quali probabilmente toccherà la sorte dei senatori pentastellati che avevano votato “no” alla fiducia e che sono stati espulsi dal Movimento. Il premier incaricato è salito al Colle per sciogliere la riserva e sottoporre la lista dei ministri al presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, che l’ha approvata, firmando i decreti di nomina: il giuramento è previsto per sabato 13 febbraio alle ore 12.. Quindici, dunque, i ministri politici: 4 del M5S, 3 di FI, 3 del Pd, 3 della Lega, 1 per Italia Viva e 1 per Leu. Ma vediamo chi fa parte della squadra di governo.

Among the key-points of the future executive, in the first place there is obviously the pandemic, against which the vaccination campaign is expected to revive the economy: restarting work and protecting the people who will not have it. Another point, the school, for which it is foreseen the extension of the school calendar and the strengthening of the teaching staff. Finally, the opening of construction sites, infrastructures and three major reforms: public administration, civil justice and taxation. The ongoing consultations with the parties focus on these issues. Will there be a good summary for everyone?

ROMA – Governo Draghi: qual è il programma? Fra i punti-chiave del futuro esecutivo, al primo posto c’è ovviamente la pandemia, contro la quale si prevede il potenziamento della campagna vaccinale per risollevare l’economia: far ripartire il lavoro e tutelare le persone che non lo avranno. Altro punto, la scuola, per la quale si prevede l’allungamento del calendario scolastico e il potenziamento del corpo docenti. Infine, apertura dei cantieri, infrastrutture e tre grandi riforme: pubblica amministrazione, giustizia civile e fisco. Le consultazioni in corso con i partiti vertono su questi temi. Si troverà una sintesi buona per tutti?
