Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Talking about a new (nth) wave of Covid-19 is perhaps premature, but the signs are all there: in recent weeks we had witnessed a rising of hospitalizations but the small number of swabs performed (reserved only for “at risk” categories) “) had not allowed an exhaustive tracing of the infections. TORONTO – The latest data relating to hospitalizations and infections are not comforting: what seems to emerge from the hospitals data and from the analysis of waste water, in fact, is a decline in the decline – which had so far been constant – of the presence of Covid-19 among the population. TORONTO – Another 11 victims related to Covid-19, today, in Ontario: the total number of deaths from pandemics in the province rises to 13,304. But the positivity rate still drops: today the Ontario analysis laboratories processed 11,234 tests detecting 1,013 cases, so the positivity rate drops to 6.4% compared to 7.2% yesterday and 8, 3% seven days ago. It is the lowest since last December 15, 2021, when it was at 6%. (more…)
TORONTO – After a long weekend that had given good hope, with few deaths and declining hospitalizations, the numbers of Covid-19 in Ontario are rising again: probably thanks to the failure to communicate the data, on holidays, by some hospitals. (more…)
TORONTO – More deaths and more hospitalizations: we have often called it a “swing”, that of the daily data on the pandemic, and so it is today: on Tuesday, Ontario confirmed another 11 deaths – which bring the total to the province, from the beginning, to 13,083 – against 2 yesterday, and 1,345 infected patients, a sharp increase from 1,122 in the previous 24 hours.
Monday’s data, however, reflected a still incomplete census as 10% of hospitals do not report data over the weekend and only update it as of Tuesday. And, in any case, hospitalizations have decreased by 13% compared to the same day last week, when 1,555 people with Covid-19 were hospitalized. (more…)
