Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
We are in the middle of summer, many of us have already been on vacation and many of us are still planning it. We would like to visit friends or relatives or spend a dream vacation in the United States or Europe. Our relatives and friends would like to visit us in Canada.

Perhaps in July, Canada will re-open its border to travelers from and to the US. After criticism of the closed border with Canada intensified in the United States, Canadian officials began to consider its multi-stage reopening. The opening of the border would begin with the admission of fully vaccinated travelers, most likely in July. (more…)

There is no kidding when it comes to reporting negative Covid-19 test results. At the border in Canada, our documents can be checked by immigration or public health services. A recent CBC study found that many Canadian snowbirds returning home from Florida after winter avoid hotel quarantine by flying to Buffalo and then hiring a taxi that will not only take you across the border but also drive you home in Ontario. (more…)
