Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
Whitby, a provincial electoral district, is situated along the north shore of Lake Ontario in the Regional Municipality of Durham. It is a relatively new district created in 2015 when it previously included sections of Oshawa and Ajax. Now, the riding encompasses the Town of Whitby, roughly 60 km east of downtown Toronto.
Created in 1999, the constituency of York-Simcoe is situated on the south shore of Lake Simcoe. It covers part of the Regional Municipality of York and encompasses the towns of Georgina, Bradford West Gwillimbury, East Gwillimbury and part of the Township of King. The riding also includes part of the County of Simcoe and the Indigenous community of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nations Indian Reserve.
TORONTO – City councilor Michael Ford (in the pic above, taken from his Twitter profile) has been named conservative progressive candidate in the upcoming provincial elections in Ontario, for the York South-Weston district. TORONTO – Justin Trudeau’s decision to invoke the Emergency Act continues to cause controversy. And among the unpredictable effects of the prime minister’s decision-making turn, we also find yet another split in the Canadian right, which still continues to pay pledge to the rubble left by former leader Erin O’Toole. The emergency legislation, which is immediately applicable but must be confirmed by Parliament within seven days, guarantees greater power of intervention by the federal police and allows the current accounts of the protest financiers to be frozen.
TORONTO – The Conservative Party is gaining ground over the Liberals, but Erin O’Toole’s leadership is once again a burden. This is the snapshot taken by a Leger poll presented today that highlights how the balance of power between the parties at the federal level has substantially stabilized in recent months after last autumn’s elections.
