Reconciliation with the natives, the Pope arrives in Canada

When, we still do not know but the news is certain because today the Vatican itself published it through an article on the Vatican News website: “The Pope wants to go to Canada in the context of the indigenous question” . For the first time, the Vatican officially asks the Italian government to amend a bill, appealing to the Concordat, the “pact” that regulates relations between the Italian state and the Catholic Church. The bill in question is the one born on the initiative of the deputy Pd Alessandro Zan and which has been in the spotlight for months in Italy because, according to several political parties, it could jeopardize freedom of expression by providing severe penalties for opinions that can be classified as offenses based “on sex, gender, sexual orientation or gender identity “. Omofobia, il Vaticano contro il disegno di legge Zan: “A rischio la libertà di pensiero dei cattolici”

Per la prima volta, il Vaticano chiede ufficialmente al governo italiano di modificare un disegno di legge, appellandosi al Concordato, il “patto” che regola i rapporti tra lo Stato italiano e la Chiesa cattolica. Il ddl in questione è quello nato su iniziativa del deputato Pd Alessandro Zan e che è sotto i riflettori da mesi in Italia in quanto, secondo più parti politiche, metterebbe a rischio la libertà di espressione prevedendo pene severe per opinioni inquadrabili come offese fondate “sul sesso, sul genere, sull’orientamento sessuale o sull’identità di genere”. Kamloops: Another formal apology long overdue

On Sunday, Pope Francis expressed shock and sorrow after “the discovery in Canada of the remains of 215 children, pupils of the Kamloops Indian Residential School in the province of British Columbia”.

During his weekly address to the crowd in Saint Peter’s Square Sunday afternoon, the Pope said he “joins the Canadian Bishops and the whole Catholic Church in Canada in expressing his closeness to the Canadian people who have been traumatized by the shocking news.” (more…)

Unanimous Supreme Court bombshell decision in the “flag debate”

The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) would seem to have laid down the ground rules for any discussion on the legitimacy of Catholic schools in Ontario’s “public education systems”. What do we do with trespassers? Throw them out

TORONTO – When the trustees at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) told the Cardinal to “stick it in his ear” they touched off a firestorm of rejection, local and beyond. The public would seem to object to their religious and legal rights being usurped by entry-level politicos. A blogger from far away Texas has initiated an online petition calling for the ouster of these “pretenders”. (more…)

Fátima 13 de Maio 2021 – Pandemia exige mudança universal

104 anos depois da primeira aparição da Virgem Maria (aos três pastorinhos: Lúcia, Francisco e Jacinta) em Fátima Portugal, o seu santuário voltou a acolher peregrinos para celebrar esse acontecimento.

Em 2020 a presença de fiéis foi simplesmente simbólica, mas este ano e apesar das restrições, o recinto contou com aproximadamente 7.500 peregrinos ( em condições normais seriam à volta de 300.000).

Como em alturas anteriores as celebrações tem como pontos altos a vigília e procissão de velas no dia 12 de Maio e a celebração eucaristica no dia 13.

As celebrações foram presididas por Dom José Tolentino de Mendonça, cardeal, teólogo e professor universitário. (more…)

The government either survives those motions, or it collapses and is replaced. In either case, the target of the motion of non-confidence suffers severe reputational damage. (more…)
