Healthcare funds, the premiers want the maximum increase

TORONTO – Canada’s 13 premiers say they “expect” to get the federal government to raise its health care funding ratio to 35%: the joint statement came on Monday, a week before the meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau scheduled for February 7th. The premiers were clear: they want the result of that meeting to be an increase in Canada Health Transfer of about $28 billion from the current $45.2 billion.  (more…)

Senator Tony Loffreda’s Calling on all Pension Funds: Invest in Canada

MONTREAL – In my column last month, I argued that Canada has a major productivity growth issue and seriously needs to consider adopting a comprehensive, multi-year plan to address this issue at its core. We need to find ways of encouraging businesses to invest in new technologies, innovation, and its people. There is no silver bullet or a one-size-fits-all approach to ensuring our economic growth and boosting Canada’s lackluster productivity record, particularly in a post-Covid economy.
