Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – The emergency continues. Emergency rooms closed on weekends, struggling wards, nurses and doctors working 16-hour shifts, are just a few flaws in the health system in Ontario as well as in other provinces of Canada. And Doug Ford once again points the finger at the federal government.
Toronto, April 20: In an open letter addressed to world leaders today, the International Council of Voluntary Agencies consisting of more than 250 NGOs have urgently called to increase aid and save more than 34 million people on the brink of starvation this year. They said up to 270 million people are acutely food insecure with millions “teetering on the very edge of famine”. (more…)
