Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
HAMILTON – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau came face to face with some protesters Tuesday night in Hamilton, Ontario, when his massive security team escorted him across the street from the “Breda Bar” restaurant where he and members of his federal cabinet – meeting in “retreat” in the Ontario city – had gathered for dinner. TORONTO – Power is woman. Even in politics. While today for Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s first woman prime minister, was the day of confidence, in Ontario there were more women elected in municipal elections.
A fairly new district, Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas was created in 2015 and situated west of “the Mountain”. The constituency covers a span of 100 square km and encompasses the communities of Ancaster and Dundas.
As of 2016, the riding had a population of 113,025. The area is a popular place to call home for many ethnic groups. Italians, at 12% of the district population, are one of the largest cultural groups which originate from Europe. (more…)
An area commonly referred to as “the Mountain” by locals, the provincial district of Hamilton Mountain gets its name from its location to the Niagara Escarpment. The riding is situated about 5 km inland from the south-western end of Lake Ontario. It encompasses part of the City of Hamilton and an area south-easterly from the start of the Escarpment. (more…)
