Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Holidays in Canada prohibited for (would-be) Chinese tourists. China has in fact excluded Canada from the list of “approved” international destinations for tour groups, while Chinese travel agents have obtained the green light to book post-pandemic trips in other countries such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia. TORONTO (Corriere Canadese / exclusive preview) – Airports, you know, are in chaos. First, the anti-Covid restrictions were “blamed”, then – once those measures were relaxed – it emerged that the real problem was the shortage of staff at airports and airlines. TORONTO – Inflation runs. With the 6.8% increase recorded in April, more and more Canadians could be at risk of starvation. It is the alarm launched by many experts since – accounts in hand – the paycheck is not enough to ensure a dignified life. Food has reached stellar prices, there is a real risk of not being able to put food on the table.
MANILA – The Philippines which relies on tourism to boost its economy is hit hard by the pandemic. Tourism-related employment in this Far East country shrank by 28 percent, while average hourly wage declined by 38%. I was in the Philippines last March 2020 when the pandemic broke out. And I noticed the absence of tourists in Metro Manila. The perception seemed to be that with the source of Covid 19 being in Asia, no one wanted to be in that continent.
The electoral district of Vaughan-Woodbridge is located along the south western edge of York Region. It was created by the 2012 electoral boundaries redistribution and encompasses the neighbourhood of Woodbridge and part of the City of Vaughan.
The constituency is home to the highest concentration of Italian Canadians in Canada. With an area population of 105,228 residents (2016 Census), more than half – 55,960 people – identify as Italian. (more…)
