Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – The Ontario government today presented the Helping Homebuyers, Protecting Tenants Act, complementary to the plan for the construction of 1.5 million homes by 2031: if approved, the legislation – in the intentions of the provincial government – would further strengthen protections for home buyers, it would support tenants and simplify rules on land use planning. TORONTO – In 2023, home prices could fall by just 1%, according to a new market survey carried out by Royal LePage. The (average) price of a Canadian home would therefore fall just 1% year-over-year from $772,900 to $765,171 – something that could disappoint hopeful homebuyers that rising interest rates would pushed house prices down. TORONTO – The average price of a home in Toronto has remained virtually unchanged over the past two months: the market seemed to be on standby, due to a sharp drop in new listings. In fact, the latest data from the Toronto Region Real Estate Board (TRREB) shows that the average sale price across all property types was $ 1,089,428 in October, up from $ 1,086,762 in September. Prices remain down 5.7% from the same period last year, while October is the third consecutive month with little or no change in TRREB’s benchmark index. (more…)
TORONTO – The municipalities of Ontario fear that the new housing legislation adopted by the Province could unload excessive burdens on the municipalities themselves and on taxpayers. The bill presented Tuesday by Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark, would, in fact, reduce and / or exempt from taxes that builders would have to pay in order to build.
