Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – The battle is preparing for the expansion of MAID (Medical assistance in dying), the program for assisted suicide, to Canadians suffering from mental illness. Opposition parties and experts are calling for the expansion to be delayed, but the Liberals have given no indication that they will. And time is running out. (more…)
MASSA CARRARA – Everyone wants the Green Pass but not everyone wants to get vaccinated. Then, there are those who have had more than two doses of vaccine but they just can’t get the Green Pass. It’s the case of Virginia G., the 23-year-old girl from Massa, in Tuscany, a master’s student in Psychology in Pisa, who was injected with six doses of anti-Covid Pfizer vaccine by mistake, on 9 May at the hospital “Noa” di Massa (the number of injected doses was then adjusted from four to six by the ASL of Massa Carrara). I am a non-indigenous Canadian who immigrated to this country from Southeast Asia. When I read about the remains of 215 children, one of whom as young as three years of age, being found at a former residential school in Kamloops, BC, I was appalled. (more…)
