Senator Tony Loffreda’s Calling on all Pension Funds: Invest in Canada

MONTREAL – In my column last month, I argued that Canada has a major productivity growth issue and seriously needs to consider adopting a comprehensive, multi-year plan to address this issue at its core. We need to find ways of encouraging businesses to invest in new technologies, innovation, and its people. There is no silver bullet or a one-size-fits-all approach to ensuring our economic growth and boosting Canada’s lackluster productivity record, particularly in a post-Covid economy.

Canada and Ontario invest over $12 million to fund infrastructure projects in Vaughan

This weekend marked a fresh start for the people of Ontario. Restaurant patio’s opened for in-person dining and non-essential retailers welcomed shoppers back for the first time in months, albeit under strict guidelines.

While the province is taking a measured approach at reopening to ensure a healthy and safe transition to the next stage, an injection of more than $12 million from both levels of government for infrastructure projects in Vaughan will help rebuild businesses, promote job creation and encourage growth and investment in the city.

Canada and Ontario Invest $15 million in Municipal Infrastructure to Respond to the Impacts of COVID-19 in Northern Ontario

THUNDER BAY —Communities across Canada are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, and need immediate assistance to ensure their public infrastructure is safe and reliable. Details were provided by the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Federal Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; Stephen Crawford, Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure and Member of Provincial Parliament for Oakville, on behalf of the Honourable Laurie Scott, Ontario’s Minister of Infrastructure; and His Worship Bill Mauro, Mayor of the City of Thunder Bay. The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing more than $15 million to protect the health, and well-being of residents in 99 municipalities across Northern Ontario. (more…)
