Pope Francis in Alberta, Quebec and Nunavut from 24 to 29 July: all the details

 

VATICAN CITY – He had repeatedly expressed his desire to go to Canada where the Church is engaged in an important process of reconciliation with the indigenous people. And this morning the official announcement arrived: Pope Francis will go to Canada, from 24 to 29 July (when we will leave to come back to Rome), and will stop in Alberta, Quebec and Nunavut, “accepting the invitation of the civil authorities, ecclesiastical and indigenous communities” as the director of the Vatican Press Office, Matteo Bruni, said. This is the Pope’s 38th apostolic journey, which will touch the cities of Edmonton, Québec and Iqaluit. (more…)

Pope Francis will be in Canada in July

Edmonton, Quebec City and Iqaluit. These are the three stages of Pope Francis’ trip to Canada scheduled for the end of July. To tell CBC News are sources not authorized to speak publicly. Moreover, the Pope himself, in the final audience granted in the Vatican to Native American groups on April 1, had hinted that around the days of St. Anne, which is celebrated on July 26, he would arrive in Canada to visit native Americans in their territories and ask forgiveness for the actions of members of the Roman Catholic Church in residential schools.

Ontario moving to step 3 of roadmap to reopen on July 16

TORONTO – Green light for early stage 3. The provincial government has decided to accelerate the easing of restrictions by moving the scheduled date from 21 July to next Friday. The executive then succumbed to pressure from many mayors who called for the reopening phase 3 to be brought forward, in light of all the epidemiological data recorded in Ontario and, at the same time, taking into account the significant progress made in recent weeks in the mass vaccination campaign. Ontario Moving to Step Three of Roadmap to Reopen on July 16

TORONTO — With key public health and health care indicators continuing to improve and the provincewide vaccination rate surpassing the targets outlined in the province’s Roadmap to Reopen, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health the Ontario government is moving the province into Step Three of the Roadmap to Reopen at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021.  (more…)

Some restrictions will soon be lifted for people who are fully vaccinated and who have proof of vaccination.
