Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Not every day you have the pleasure of shaking hands and congratulating an Olympic champion. Adriana Leon, striker of the Canadian women’s football team, just back from the Tokyo Olympics where the girls won the gold medal by beating Sweden, wanted to visit the old neighbors and friends of Maple where she was born and who since she was a young girl there they saw her grow up with the ball on her foot. TOKYO – ‘Azzurri’ athletes have won a record breaking 40 medals for Italy, including 10 golds, more than traditional European sports powerhouses Germany and France, and even more than the 36 Italy had previously won at Los Angeles 1936 and at their home Olympics in Rome in 1960, their previous best mark. TOKYO – 6 August 2021, another historic day for Italian sport. In the men’s 4×100, with 37 “50 the Azzurri win gold in front of Great Britain (37” 51) and Canada (37 “70). Patta, Jacobs, Desalu and Tortu win a fantastic Olympic gold medal and for the Italia Team, after the other victories today (including gold in karate with Luigi Busà), is the 38th medal, an absolute record at the Olympic Games, which improves the 36 podiums obtained from the Azzurri’s expeditions of Los Angeles 1932 and Rome 1960. TORONTO – July 29, 2021: after 2,000m of racing, Italy wins the women’s lightweight double sculls title. Valentina Rodini and Federica Cesarini rowed to the gold in 6:47.54. France was just 0.14secs behind, claiming the silver in 6:47.68. Netherlands took the bronze in 6:48.03. (more…)
