Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Sixth wave of Covid-19 and few public health measures still in place. This is currently the situation in Ontario which, according to experts, needs a renewed vaccination strategy aimed at increasing the intake of the third dose, encouraging the vaccination of children and a possible fourth dose.
The world of communications is constantly evolving. Over 3.6 billion people worldwide use social media to stay connected, to share content and to stay informed.
Digital platforms play a major role as they are the pathways through which people access their news and information, (see graph 1). The symbiotic relationship between news publishers and digital platforms should be beneficial to both parties. But, this is not always the case. Especially, in a world where the pandemic seems to have accelerated the digital transformation in society.

TORONTO – The third wave of the pandemic is now over. For several weeks, the overall epidemiological picture in Ontario has been improving significantly, with the collapse of new daily cases, the sharp decrease in hospitalizations and ICU admissions and, more generally, with a mass immunization campaign that is finally at full power. Canadian political parties of all stripes have long oscillated between the urge to tap into Canada’s immigrant communities, and an opposing instinct to turn inward and rebuff such influences. In a recent CBC report, April 13, 2021, Liberal MP David McGuinty, head of the National Security Intelligence Committee (NSICOP), said that state actors are looking to join political parties to ‘exert influence’.
