Ontario area codes – a new one will be added this fall

The province of Ontario will receive a new area code this fall.

The growing demand for telephone numbers made it necessary to introduce a new area code. To meet this demand, a new area code will be introduced in southern Ontario this fall.

The area code 742 will be released on October 16 and will be phased in gradually in areas currently served by area codes 905, 289, and 265. (more…)

TORONTO – June 8, 2021: Canada stood today at 1,395,015 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 869 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – today reached 25,786 total deaths, 25 more than on Monday. In Canada today the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,347,274. Ontario today reached 537,076 overall positives, an increase of 469 new cases compared to Monday. (more…)

Toronto History Museums launches new virtual Indigenous Peoples Month Programming

The official launch of Indigenous Peoples Month at Toronto History Museums, a group of 10 museums owned and operated by the City of Toronto, took place this Tuesday (June 1).

The month-long online celebration will include tours, a culinary program, a shop experience that includes products from Indigenous artists and authors, and film and dance performances by emerging and established artists.

Toronto to purchase dozens of new streetcars from Thunder Bay Alstom plant

Toronto will receive $360 million in funding from the federal and provincial governments to move forward with the purchase of dozens of new streetcars. The city had already approved the purchase of 13 new streetcars from the Alstom plant in Thunder Bay in October, but now it will be able to move ahead with the option to purchase another 47, with delivery of the vehicles starting in 2023. If Italy were to return to the monarchy, it will not have a king but a queen. And she will be the “rock princess” Vittoria Cristina Chiara Adelaide Maria (in the pic), niece of Vittorio Emanuele di Savoia, son of the last king of Italy, Umberto II, forced into exile after the institutional referendum which in 1946 sanctioned the end of the monarchy in Italy. TORONTO – May 11, 2021: Canada stood yesterday at 1,297,395 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 3,209 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – yesterday reached 24,706 total deaths, 24 more than on Monday. In Canada yesterday the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,194,022. Ontario yesterday reached 497,092 overall positives, an increase of 2,073 new cases compared to Monday, the lowest number of new since last March 24. Chernobyl, the alarm of Ukrainian scientists: “35 years later there is a risk of a new accident”

KIEV – 35 years after the disaster, Reactor 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant seems to be “awakened”. And according to the scientists there is the risk of a new accident, albeit less serious than the one that occurred on the night of April 26, 1986 when the plant exploded, releasing radioactive clouds that also reached Europe and the eastern coast of North America.
