Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
As election day draws near, the political landscape in Etobicoke-Lakeshore is poised for a change in representation. Created in 1987, the riding is situated along the northern shore of Lake Ontario and includes the communities of Alderwood, Long Branch, Mimico and Humber Bay.
The political landscape in Niagara Centre may be poised for a change in leadership. Formerly known as Welland, Niagara Centre has a lengthy history dating back to 1867 with changing boundaries, different names and has been represented by all three major political parties.
Created in 1967, St. Catharines is a provincial electoral district located in the Niagara Region along the southwestern edge of Lake Ontario. The riding encompasses part of the City of St. Catharines, the largest city in the region. (more…)
Guelph, a provincial electoral district in Southwestern Ontario that encompasses the city of Guelph, about 100km northwest of Toronto. With a population of 131,790, a significant portion of constituents are of European origin, primarily British. It is an area popular among immigrants and Italians in particular. According to the 2016 Census, the riding is home to 12,725 residents who identify as Italian. They represent 10% of the district population.
