Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
EDMONTON – The month of September 2021 was, so far, the worst month in Alberta during the entire Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, more inhabitants of the province have tested positive than in any previous month and records have also been set for hospitalizations and intensive care. September was also the deadliest month since the second wave of the pandemic. (more…)
TORONTO – What needs to be done is to eliminate profit from long-term care, but until then Doug Ford “must refuse licence renewal applications to homes that did not protect the elderly during the pandemic.” This is the request NDP leader Andrea Horwath made to the government today during a conference via Zoom from Pickering. Yesterday the record was recorded since the beginning of the school year: 518 cases – 440 are students, 77 teachers and 1 is a non-teaching member – which has increased the total number to 12,750. There are 1,168 schools where outbreaks of the virus are currently active while the number of schools closed has risen to 58. (more…)
