Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

After logging another 17,550 new infections in the last 24-hours, Germany’s Covid-19 case count surpassed 3.5 million, with 89.3% of all cases recovered. Since yesterday, Covid-related deaths increased by 245, brining the total to just over 85,000 fatalities.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 5.8 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. On May 7, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 144,724 vaccine doses on Thursday, up from 141,038 doses the day prior.

After logging less than 3,000 cases for the past two days in a row, health officials in Ontario recorded another 3,424 new infection. The province is reporting 877 patients in the ICU, down from more than 900 earlier this month.

The trajectory of Covid-19 cases and fatalities continue to soar in India. Another record-breaking day as the country’s health officials record more than 406,000 new infections and an additional 3,841 Covid-related deaths in the last 24-hours.
With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 5.5 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. On May 5, the Ministry of Health reported 132,603 doses administered, up from 88,871 doses the day prior.

As vaccinations efforts continue across the UK, more than 50 million doses have been administered into the arms of citizens. Thus far 95.7% of all confirmed positive cases have recovered. In the last 24-hours, the country’s health officials recorded 1,946 new infections, a slight increase from the previous day’s report.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Germany surpass 3.4 million. In the last 24-hours, the country’s health officials reported an additional 13,378 new infections. Since yesterday, the number of Covid-19 related deaths increased by 136, bringing Germany’s total fatalities to 83,678.

India sets a new global record as the country reports 402,110 new infections in the last 24-hours. This is the highest single-day increase since the onset of the pandemic. The devastating surge in cases has overwhelmed the country’s healthcare system and the death toll continues to rise. Since yesterday, the number of Covid-related deaths increased by 3,522, bringing India’s total fatalities to 211,835.
