Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of April 6, 2022, at 5:00pm EST.

On Wednesday, health officials in the Germany logged 177,659 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 22.1 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 79.8% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 272 Covid-related deaths for a total of 131,455 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Covid, boom of children in emergency rooms. From tomorrow fourth dose for the over 60s

TORONTO – This latest wave of Covid-19 seems to be affecting more children. Visits to hospital emergency rooms by children with severe symptoms are uphill since the pandemic began two years ago. In the last two weeks, 89 children have been hospitalized across the province of Ontario. And the pressure on the Ford government to restore the obligation to wear masks, following this recent spike in infections related to children, is growing. “We’re seeing guys who have a high fever. Children for whom it is painful to breathe, others who need oxygen supplementation,” said Dr. Brett Belchetz who serves in a Toronto emergency room.

Windsor West: Political party contenders gear up for a tough campaign

Windsor West provincial electoral district is situated at the Southwestern tip of Ontario. It covers an area of 82 square km and encompasses the western part of the city of Windsor. The Detroit river, which is divided by the Canada-US boundary, edges along the city’s northern shore.

Daily update of Ontario’s Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign

With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 32.0 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on April 6, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 8,664 vaccine doses on Tuesday, up from 6,195 doses the day prior.

The virus continues to kill: another 32 dead in Ontario

TORONTO – The number of Covid-19 positive patients in Ontario hospitals decreases slightly, but remains above one thousand: 1,074 people today, compared to 1,091 the day before. 168 those in intensive care, down from 173 yesterday. But the alarming figure, among those of today, concerns deaths: 32 deaths, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic in Ontario to 12,511.
