Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of April 21, 2022, at 9:15pm EST.

On Thursday, health officials in the UK logged 19,472 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 21.9 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 94.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 646 Covid-related deaths for a total of 173,032 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Update: Resignation of the Director of Education at the HCDSB

The following is an update to the article: Dramatic resignation at the head of the HCDSB (April 20). At a Board meeting held on April 19, 2022, Vice Chair Agnew announced that the Board of Trustees accepted with regret the resignation of Pat Daly, Director of Education and Secretary of the Board at the HCDSB, effective July 31, 2022. TORONTO – In the absence of large-scale PCR testing, Canada must develop an accurate method to detect the presence of COVID-19. This is what experts say in this sixth wave that is recording a high number of hospitalizations: today they are 1,626.

Covid-19 in Ontario, positivity rises and exceeds 18%. Another 38 dead in Quebec

TORONTO – Covid-19, slight decline in hospitalizations today in Ontario: 1,626 patients in hospitals due to (45%) or with (55%) Covid-19, against 1,662 yesterday. In intensive care instead there is a slight increase, from 203 patients on Wednesday to 207 today: here 62% are in the ICU due to the virus while only 38% were hospitalized for other reasons and then at the time of the entrance test in hospital discovered that it also has Covid-19. Created in 2015, the provincial electoral district of Flamborough-Glanbrook is situated along the southern outskirts of Hamilton. The riding encompasses the rural portion of the City of Hamilton, including part of the Niagara Escarpment. It covers an area of 125 square km, slightly smaller than that of Turin, Italy, but with a population density about one seventh that of the Italian regional municipality.
