Bill C-7 was passed

On March 17, 2021, Bill C-7 was passed, granting Canadians without a reasonably foreseeable death the right to apply for medical assistance in dying (MAID).  This is a modification to the original MAID legislation, for which a majority of Canadians showed support.  Parliamentary and expert reviews will now be conducted to study additional questions, such as advance requests, cases relating to mental illness, the protection of persons with disabilities, the palliative care system, and access to MAID for minors.

Your eminence, a lot of things do not make sense

Transcript of Video – Summary of Joe Volpe’s Article – Read More>>>
“Your eminence, a lot of things do not make sense”, by the Honourable Joe Volpe, brings to light the disparity between the rights afforded religious institutions and commercial enterprises in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.  The Church has protested feebly to the severe restrictions, while big box stores, supported by the Provincial Cabinet, have been vociferous and unrelenting.  The result is that, while large chain stores and outlet malls are now permitted to be open, even crowded, churches and mausoleums remain virtually shuttered.  Volpe laments the Cardinal’s inaction, as seen also in recent events surrounding Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Toronto.

EXCLUSIVE Tcdsb and Minister Lecce in legal troubles

EnglishItalianPortugueseSpanishGermanDutchFilipinoPolishChinese (Simplified)ArabicBengaliGreekTurkishKoreanJapanesePersianRomanian TORONTO – Enough is enough! It was expected that Del Grande would fight back. An Application for Judicial Review (JR) between Michael Del Grande and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) has been filed in Divisional Court. Understandably, it took a while to materialize in its final version.

In its reading, it resembles a thin veil pulled back that reveals the governance rot beneath the surface that has been afflicting Catholic education boards and the TCDSB in particular. It also exposes the perverse – even illegal – meddling by Queen’s Park in areas arguably beyond its jurisdiction.Read More>>>
