OTTAWA – News for Mexicans arriving in Canada. As of today, at 11:30 p.m. Eastern time, Mexican citizens need a visa to enter Canada unless they meet certain criteria: most existing electronic travel authorizations (eTAs) for Mexican passport holders will be cancelled. Mexican citizens will be able to apply for a new eTA if they are flying to Canada and if: (1) they have held a Canadian tourist visa within the last ten years or (2) they currently hold a valid US non-immigrant visa. TORONTO – Il regista Matteo Garrone dice di aver provato “soddisfazione ed emozione” per la nomination di “Io capitano” all’Oscar nella categoria Miglior film internazionale. È un film, questo, che racconta una storia cruda, fatta di coraggio e dignità e che ha già vinto il Leone d’argento per la miglior regia alla 80ª Mostra internazionale d’arte cinematografica di Venezia. Le dinamiche sociali e la necessità di scandagliare situazioni reali, rifiutando la spettacolarità fine a se stessa sono una costante dei film di Garrone. Che in “Io capitano” – opera di grande carica emotiva e altrettanto grande intensità – ha voluto raccontare il percorso di questi ragazzi attraverso l’Africa dal loro punto di vista: “Mi sono aggrappato alle loro storie, gli attori mi hanno regalato la loro umanità e la loro spiritualità”, dice Garrone. OTTAWA – A new bill was presented yesterday, at first reading in the House of Commons, to propose a wide range of new requirements for online platforms, aimed at repressing a series of crimes – in particular against children – and the creation of a new digital safety oversight body to force sites to act immediately in the presence of incitement to hatred or child sexual exploitation, under penalty of very heavy sanctions.
