Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – New, slight increase in infected patients in Ontario hospitals: 1,734 people today, compared to 1,730 in the previous 24 hours. 211 are in intensive care, eight fewer than on Wednesday but eight more than a week ago: 92 are breathing with the help of a ventilator. (more…)
TORONTO – The sixth wave of Covid-19 is there, and it shows. Today, Ontario recorded another 10 deaths, bringing the total in the province, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 12,470. On the other hand, the updated data on hospitalizations due – a provincial health official said – to a scheduled maintenance of the computer systems are not available. But Saturday’s figure is enough to make it clear that the Omicron BA.2 variant is making the numbers rise with impressive speed: 855 people admitted to hospitals in the province, compared to 807 last Thursday and, above all, to 553 of just one week ago (March 28). TORONTO – Hospitalizations from and with Covid-19 in Ontario continue to grow: today in the province’s hospitals there were 778 people, down from 790 yesterday, even a sharp increase compared to 611 a week ago. 165 patients in intensive care (92 with ventilators to breathe), the same number as yesterday. As for infections, 2,814 were recorded today but, due to the limitation of texts to “at risk” categories only, according to experts that the real number of infections could be about 10 times that figure. TORONTO – Covid-19, hospitalizations in Ontario are returning to drop, after the surge recorded in recent days: today a total of 553 people were hospitalized in the hospitals of the province, including 157 inpatients in intensive care. Much less, therefore, than the 707 reported on Saturday and 667 on Friday, although it should be remembered that not all hospitals communicate their data on Sundays. (more…)
TORONTO – Covid-19: 661 people in Ontario hospitals today with Covid-19, including 165 intensive care inpatients. Therefore, the trend that has characterized the last few days is confirmed: ordinary hospitalizations on the rise (yesterday there were 611) and intensive care in decline (on Wednesday there were 174). Unfortunately, the trend of victims also remains almost unchanged: today another 10, bringing the total of Ontario from the beginning of the pandemic to 12,366. (more…)
