The Dhaka University celebrates its centenary this year as it opened its doors on July 1, 1921. Its patrons particularly, Nawab Sir Khwaja Salimullah by donating 600 acres of land, steered the new institution with Oxford University’s academic model of a residential institution where the students would primarily live in the campus. Sources of military actions in the Middle East: Power and Bibi

TORONTO – Whatever one might hazard to say about Israel… it would be wrong, the moment a “shot” is fired. There have been many “shots” fired in the last week. In fact, as of May 19, the overall death toll in Gaza stood at 197 people, including 58 children and 34 women, with 1,235 injured and about 70,000 displaced.

A word of caution, the foregoing numbers vary according to their source (Hamas/Palestinian or the Israeli Defense Forces), and reporting agencies like Al-Jazeera, the BBC or the Associated Press. (more…)

Earthquake in the Adriatic Sea,

Following three other tremors recorded by the Ingv (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), with an epicenter in the open sea, 10 kilometers deep: the second at 15 of magnitude 4.1; the third, of 15.09, of 2.6, and the fourth of 15.12, of 3.4. The earthquake was felt above all in Puglia, Basilicata, Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Lazio and the Marche. (more…)
