Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – The number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care in Ontario drops below four hundred for the first time in 2022: today, in fact, the number of people in ICU was 394. And the total number of people in the hospital still falls: 1,369 today, compared to 1,540 on Sunday. (more…)
TORONTO – Over 100 more cases in 24 hours, compared to the same number of tests analyzed: today Ontario recorded 413 new ones, detected on 31,800 swabs carried out, compared to 304 on Wednesday when the tests had been more than 31,000. The positivity rate therefore goes back to 1.6% (24 hours earlier it was 1.3%). 4 deaths recorded today, the same number as on Wednesday. (more…)
TORONTO – After the sleepy long weekend of the second “pandemic” Labor Day in its history, Ontario wakes up with good news: infections have dropped, at least in the last two days. 581 on Monday and 564 today, against 811 on Sunday, 944 on Saturday and 807 on Friday. The seven-day moving average therefore stops at 746 (yesterday it was 757). It is true that fewer tests were carried out: 19,200 swabs performed on Monday and 17,118 those on Tuesday, against 22,410 on Sunday when 811 cases were recorded. The positivity rate therefore rises to 3.5% (average percentage of the two days) against 2.9% three days ago. (more…)
