Niagara Centre: A key battleground for political parties

The electoral district of Niagara Centre (formerly known as Welland), is located in the Niagara Region. It is situated along the northeastern shore of Lake Erie and includes the cities of Port Colborne, Thorold, Welland and part of the City of St. Catharines.

Regionally, it is an area rich in history, culture and is comprised of several different ethnic groups. Italians, at 13% of the population, represent one of the largest ethnic groups in Niagara Centre.

Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill: A key district in the election

The federal electoral district of Aurora-Oak Ridges-Richmond Hill is located just north of the constituency of Richmond Hill. It was created following the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and includes parts of York Region, Aurora and Richmond Hill.

The electoral district of Sault Ste. Marie is located in northern Ontario, about an 8-hour car ride northwest of Toronto. It is situated along the international boundary between Canada and the US and part of the northern shoreline of Lake Superior.

Electoral uncertainty: at the polls the undecided will be a key factor

TORONTO – The second week of the election campaign brings with it the unknowns and the grey areas of the first. Confirming the climate of uncertainty that is accompanying the approach to the appointment at the polls on September 20th comes the new Ipsos poll that certifies that the outcome of the early elections is far from decided. On the contrary, the volatility of the electorate is much higher than in the past and, ultimately, the choice of the great mass of undecided will be the real needle in the balance at the polls.  (more…)

Vaccines the key to find the new normality

Canadians’ initial skepticism of vaccines developed in such a short time is gradually waning, replaced by growing optimism fueled by news coming from abroad. In Israel, the country that has conducted the most aggressive immunization campaign, people are slowly regaining small portions of normality that they had had to renounce since the beginning of the pandemic: in many areas of the country restaurants, cafes, schools, cultural events, tourist attractions, have resumed functioning exactly as in the pre-pandemic phase. In Israel almost 5 million people received the first dose, 3 million and 800 thousand also the recall: more than 40% of the population is “protected” from Covid. And the results can be seen: the positivity rate has fallen to 4.3% compared to 10% in January. (more…)
