Thunder Bay — Atikokan: Italians may hold the key in a close 2-way vote

The provincial electoral district of Thunder Bay – Atikokan (TBA) is situated just west of Thunder Bay – Superior North along the north shore of Lake Superior. Located about 1,600km northwest of the capital, by car it would take about 18 hours (nonstop) to reach Ottawa.

The district covers an area of 25,600 square km (about the same size as Sicily). It encompasses the town of Atikokan and the south side of the City of Thunder Bay. The oddly shaped riding dips south to the Canada/US boundary. (more…)

Covid-19 in Ontario, positivity never so high since May

TORONTO – Just take a few more swabs and immediately the number of new Covid-19 cases skyrockets: 928 registrations today in Ontario out of a total of 26,000 tests processed, with the positivity rate reaching 3.8% that is the highest percentage since the end of May (yesterday, with 25,981 tests and 887 cases, the rate was 3.5%). The seven-day moving average of new cases is now 975 (yesterday it was 940, a week ago it was 794).  (more…)

Activist LBGT judge Corbett may rescue Lecce

TORONTO – Lecce may yet succeed in his plan to eliminate Catholic Schools as a system. He does not appear disposed “to take any prisoners”. Caught in the middle of a legal case laden with Constitutional issues (Provincial rights, Religious freedom, Rights of Roman Catholics and the [potential] abuse of office by a Minister) between Trustee Del Grande and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), his Ministry played the “Calendar Game” hoping for the next availability of a “ favourable” judge.  (more…)
