Covid-19: hospitalizations are still falling

TORONTO – Covid-19, for the first time in two months the number of patients in intensive care in Ontario falls below 250: today they were 247. And 684, in total, hospitalized, a sharp decline compared to 795 patients present on Saturday. It is also true that not all hospitals report patient data over the weekend, but the decline is still substantial and confirms the trend of the last few weeks.  Continue reading

The war in Ukraine prompts business interests to exit Russia


Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has forced nearly two million people out of Ukraine, according to the UN Refugee Agency. Frightened and uncertain about their future, they cross over borders into neighbouring countries to escape the bombings and bloodshed.

Meanwhile, a different type of exodus occurs in Russia. Many companies and investors have decided to cut back, or suspend, their activities in Russia. Others have chosen to leave altogether, which could have a lasting impact on the country’s economy.

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of March 5, 2022, at 5:00 pm EST.

On Saturday, health officials in Russia logged 86,769 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 16.8 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 85.5% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 750 Covid-related deaths for a total of 355,537 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

On Friday, health officials in the Germany logged 203,972 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 15.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 76.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 252 Covid-related deaths for a total of 124,517 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

(Revista Amar) Nasceu em Paris em 1969 e chegou com os pais ao Canadá no início da década de 70. É filho de emigrantes transmontanos, Eduardo e Maria e irmão (3 anos mais velho) de Oscar. Césario é pai de dois jovens rapazes, Michael e Adam, com 20 e 13 anos respetivamente, do primeiro casamento e está noivo de Tina Hatton.
