Orange Shirt Day!

TORONTO – September 30, 2025 marked orange day shirt. Several events happened simultaneously in the city of Toronto. To mention some, one is the Toronto City Hall, Bata Shoe Museum, Na-Me-Res-Day of Remembrance Day Ceremony at Hillcrest Park, and another one at Roncesvale peace park, and others. All events are to honour and commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

At Toronto City hall, variety of Teepee with different colours are nice to look at. It is a choice of background to have a souvenir pictures. First Nation participants at powwow ceremony, after performing they mingle with the crowds to have pictures whoever want one. Orange shirts are visible everywhere with different print of logo. One says “ Every Child’s Life Matters”. Most of the shirts are being sold as a means of fund raising.

Lots of freebies are being given specially to children as a means of remembrance. Different tents are open for educational talks of information. Color face painting are visible and posters painting. There is the tents for sacred smoke ceremony. Different support groups are present such as the TTC, giving away samples of things. Singing dancing and speeches on the stage. Not to forget to mention, foods and drinks are all over the place.

It’s a whole day affairs, people come and go learning about things about Truth and Reconciliation. Some are emotional learning what happened. And some are somber about things that took place. Signing petitions, calling attentions that these things should not happened again. Truth and Reconciliation maybe symbolic to some but to others it’s sincere apologies and making amends.
