On Wednesday, health officials in Mexico logged 6,917 new infections. This marks highest single-day increase roughly seven weeks. With more than 2.4 million total confirmed cases since the onset of the pandemic, nearly 80% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 33 for a total of 227,840 fatalities.
Globally, over 171 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data.
Since the start of the pandemic, over 155 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 3.6 million worldwide.
